Permanent color toning scares people... and I’m really not sure why... most Demi color lines start on the alkaline side of the ph scale just like permanent hair.... Even shades EQ ... believe it or not! Adding developer (acidity ) it helps bring the ph Down. The same is true when using permanent color. . Most things people say - Won’t it shift base? - sure permanent color can shift the base if you want it to I love shifting the hairline on a lot of my blonde clients. Think about a single process client that says they feel super dark around the hairline use a lighter formula and personalize that formula! But if you don’t want shift manipulate the permanent color with developer and or conditioner! . Won’t you struggle lifting past permanent color? I have been using permanent color to tone for years and have not had a problem no worse then when I’m lightening past a Demi ... 😏.
