today is my dad’s Rebirthday 👑 five years ago today, my dad passed away after a fourteen-year journey with Alzheimer’s Disease. he began showing signs at the young age of 49... and even in the darkest moments of his final years, MUSIC somehow always managed to pierce through the clouds and bring light into his life. Boston is one of those bands that will always remind me of jamming with him, volume all the way up, playing air guitar and drum fills. Dad’s love of music was ever-present and infectious. when a song came on that he loved, his whole body and soul would light up— you could just feel the love coming through him, and it would lift you up too. his joy would fill the space with joy— it could not be stopped. this year i’m reminding myself of the joy in just waking up and being alive and being able to listen to music at all. feeling grateful, thankful, joyful today, especially for the gift of music and everything it’s given me this lifetime. and big love for Big Joe 🤍 🎶 it’s more than a feeling when i hear that old song play... 🎵
