Photographed the wonderfully patient @damiandtla review by @bill_addison for @latimesfood @latimes, years in the making, following the restaurant as it shifted into and out of phases pandemic dining. Please do give it a read! I scribbled it out so I wouldn’t spoil the ending. I’d been to and enjoyed @ditroitdtla but this assignment was my first opportunity to see Damian in action. Gotta say... dream come true for this J-school grad! I’ve wanted to do this kind of editorial work since I was 18 years old, trying to score writing internships at Phoenix’s few food sections. I had a fledgling food blog with like 5 entries in it, which I think helped. Photography wasn’t on my radar at the time — wouldn’t be, either, for another 7 or 8 years when I was able to pinch together some table-waiting dollars for my first camera, a Sony A7II, which I was still using when I first got to LA in 2020. Long story short, means a lot to me to get to do this kind of editorial work. Huge thank you to @liv_likeajournalist @katepkuo @calagot and everyone at @latimesfood @latimes
