One of my favorite ways to use tall plants is to plant following season crops underneath the canopy. That’s what I am doing here with the okra plants. The large sprawling leaves will help shade these fall tomatoes from the intense summer light and heat while they are establishing roots. I try to do this every season. Not only with tall plants but even with succession planting.
