Located on the busy West Nanjing Road close to the famous Jing’an Temple, our second cafe in Shanghai—Jing’an Kerry Centre (JAKC) is open. The JAKC cafe is our fourth design project created in collaboration with Keiji Ashizawa Design (@keijiashizawadesign.) Inspiration for the design was drawn from traditional Shanghainese architectural style, featuring Shikumen lane to create “Architecture in Architecture,” the primary theme throughout the cafe, as well as roof tiles used in traditional Chinese buildings. There are over 13,000 custom designed clay tiles hand made at a factory in Yixing, China. These concave tiles bring a historical element to the contemporary space constructed with cement and concrete. Let us take you to the second floor open lounge space. Soft lights greet you as you settle into a leather couch or chair and gather with friends around a custom-designed, oversized square coffee table with brickwork inlay. The entire area was designed to ensure abundant natural light and unobstructed panoramic views. Come visit us at JAKC and find a place of tranquility, retreating from the hustle and bustle.
