We need to fight Fossil Fuels in Lützerath and Everywhere! For more info follow @luetzibleibt Lützerath is a small village in the west of Germany. The village is located directly next to the Garzweiler 2, an open pit coal mine of RWE which is considered one of the largest in Europe and has been dredging coal in Germany for decades. For the construction of the opencast mine, 8 villages have destroyed so far and with Lützerath Schluss to be destroyed soon as well. Even though the Federal Government of Germany says they’re phasing out coal by 2030, it is still destroying the village Lützerath and allowing RWE the possibility of dredging up to 280 Millionen tons of coal until 2030. That is an absolute break with the Paris climate agreement because Lützerath is, according to several studies of the DIW, crucial for to ensure the 1.5 degrees goal. At the beginning of the week, thousands of riot police marched into Lützerath and cleared the last activists from the village. There are still thousands of people in Lützerath defending the village in tree houses, squats, and behind barricades. But Lützerath is more than just the village where the 1.5-degree limit is located, it is also a free space for queer people, marginalized groups of people, a utopia of an alternative way of life and so much more. We need an instant stop to the Eviction. The Paris Agreement is not optional! #Luetzibleibt
