This year for Kaveh’s senior trip he struggled to pick a place - but he finally decided on Costa Rica. So we headed south to Central America. To say that this country is gorgeous is an understatement. We saw the Pacific Ocean, the rain forest, the cloud forest, and a volcano, but what was the most impressive and breathtaking thing for us was all the creatures that we encountered. ***on the last day before we headed to the airport to come home, we hiked to Lake Arenal, and on our way back to the car, Chris spotted this Costa Rican Margay ( a cousin of the Ocelot that is strictly Arboreal - spends time in trees and hunts monkeys and tree dewelers) sleeping in the tree along side of the trail. He called us over urgently but in a hush voice. As I looked at where he was pointing, I nearly lost my breath. I didn’t know how to even focus the lens I was so shaken. Kian took most of the photos. If there was ever a religious experience to be had that was it for me. I burst into tears. I was overwhelmed. I wept. The beauty of the moment took my breath away. He was absolute perfection in his peaceful slumber. Pura Vida! I will make another album for all the other animals we saw.
