We planted #UrbanTrees with the @bravesfdn 🌱🎉 Planting Urban Trees with the Atlanta Braves finds us on the ground at Hyde Farm Park in Atlanta, Georgia at a planting event that was part of a larger initiative. Together with @bravesfdn , @playersfortheplanet , and the local community, we established 20 community orchards throughout a 5-county area: Clayton, Cobb, Dekalb, Gwinnett and Fulton.🌲🍎🎉 These trees will help improve food security by producing more than 13,000 servings of healthy and fresh fruit each year, with a typical II lifespan of 20-30 years or more (and some species producing fruit for 50-60 years, or longer). The trees also provide important environmental benefits, including carbon sequestration, improved soil biology, and stormwater absorption, which reduces the risk of urban flooding. We’re thankful to our on the ground partners, The @givinggrove and @foodwellalliance , for making this initiative such a success.🌱🎉 Whether it’s a deep personal connection with nature, a desire to promote environmental justice in their own communities or just wanting to make a positive impact for the environment and future generations, each player has a unique motivation that inspires and drives them.
