We are thrilled to announce the launch of our first ever swimwear in SS23! Over the last few years, we have been on a journey to create a better swimwear line that doesn't rely entirely on nylon, polyester or “recycled plastic bottles”. We are honored to be one of the first brands to launch swimwear made from 93% micro tencel, 7% elastane. Swimwear’s inherent design requires the fabric to both hug the body and perform in water. Unfortunately, the only solution thus far has been 100% petroleum-based fibers. “I have turned down multiple opportunities to create a swimwear line because there really has not been any better options available. The fabrics have always been 100% synthetic fiber-based which requires a large amount of petroleum and a major contributor to the pollution of our air, water, and land,” Designer and CEO, Savannah says. We have partnered with a company who are textile innovators using bio-based natural fibers specifically designed to mimic the functionality and performance of synthetic fibers. The material is made from dissolved wood pulp that’s processed using a low-toxicity solvent. Fabrics made from wood pulp often rely on a huge chemical intensive process - this does not. The fabric uses only 7 % elastane — a drastic advancement compared to current swimwear and leaps forward in the right direction. This fabric is the first time we have ever used synthetic fiber blends in our fabrics. “It was a hard decision to come to. But I wanted to give our customers a better option and this is it. We will continue to work with suppliers who are pushing innovation in materials which will eventually eliminate synthetic fibers altogether”. The wood pulp is also derived from Canopy-approved sources to not contribute to deforestation. The touch and feel.....ahh it's so much softer and more comfortable. It holds anti-fungal and bacterial properties so your most intimate areas / skin can actually breathe while you bask in the sun or swim in our marvelous oceans.
