Abri is getting stronger everyday! She is starting to take steps in pt and at home. The pain rehab center was HARD but it helped so much in getting her strength back. When she started there she could barely sit up on her own and was asleep most of the time. Even when they had her in a wheelchair she would have to be strapped in because she was barely conscious enough to hold herself up. It was the hardest thing I have seen to date. 😞 Abri is working with an incredible pain specialist here that is helping her understand the depths of chronic pain and strategies to get through it. Chronic regional pain is brutal!!! Car rides are still awful but she is able to get further each time by walking herself through with coping techniques. Abri is also seeing my brother in law who is doing all sorts of awesome functional medicine things like red light therapy, methylene blue Ivs and a super cool machine called the Eeboo that oxygenates and recirculates her blood. She is also trialing LDN which hasn’t shown much help yet but we are hoping it will as she continues on. And most excitingly Abri is eating almost half her calories every day by mouth! It isn’t easy for her but the tube feeds are so painful that she is trying her hardest to eat more by mouth each day so she can hopefully get this darn tube out for good soon. (We know there are other options available like the gtube in her stomach but for now she and the doctors want to avoid that option if she can tolerate food by mouth) Thank you all so much for the items from her Amazon wishlist and for the Amazon gift cards. With them we were able to purchase a wheelchair/walker and an exercise bike that she uses everyday to strengthen her legs as well as other supplies she has been needing. I’m sorry we haven’t updated more but honestly this has been all so physically and emotionally draining that I have nothing left at the end of the day. Thankfully Abri’s dad will get here on Thursday so I will finally get some rest.😵‍💫 It’s been a long 5 months here alone. I definitely need a vacation on the beach with lots of margaritas when we are finally back home. Or maybe just a two week nap. 😂 😴😴😴❤️❤️❤️
