Holding this microphone is deeper than I appreciated once upon a time. Depending the context, holding this microphone is an opportunity, a responsibility and a privilege. Each time I hold the mic, I accept the opportunity & responsibility to be the vehicle for someone to express themselves authentically; I accept the privilege to connect with other incredible human beings and exchange pure energy, knowledge and stories; I accept the responsibility to show up for my community; I accept the opportunity to learn more about myself. A self-awareness activity indeed, as @mellieyu once said to me. I remember being in the dressing room with @vinasvibes before the NEWPRINT Out West Show and I was telling sis how I was feeling nervous. She reminded me that I’m a “vessel” & instantly, the nerves disappeared. My mind shifted into total service mode & the night was amazing. Yes I like being on stage and doing my thing, I always will, but holding this microphone is deeper than that.
