They’ve (temporarily) given Design the keys to our Instagram! Bold? Yes. A mistake? Almost definitely, but here we go! Fear not though, this has been spell checked. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This AW22 print was created by combing a combination of iconic ranch imagery. We started by researching into fantastic old western shirts. I bought a book that details these bold outfits, often featuring heavy applications of hats, boots, snakes and plants. They are brilliantly bonkers and we wanted to re-imagine these through a modern lens. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The hat was drawn in a style inspired by M.C.Escher’s 1955 ‘Rind’ in which he used lines to create shadows. I have a framed print of this in our home that I bought from an exhibition of his about 7 years ago in Madrid. The boots were inspired by vintage boot advertising posters that show an amazing array of styles. The snake is a prairie rattle snake found in places such as Montana and the plant is an Agave. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This was fun because it involved some my favourite parts of how we design; research and learn something new and at the end of the day draw something on paper you’re proud of. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s been a pleasure D&D Instagramers!
