Dear Band, It’s hard to believe that four years can go so slowly and yet move so quickly at the same time. I believe it impossible to summarize all of my feelings in one post, but i’ll try my hardest. When I started high school, I didn’t really have a lot of friends, and I was just kind of doing my own thing. Band came in and changed everything for me. I may have been the annoying freshman on cymbals, but my band family took me in and showed me support and love that I had never received before. Band helped me grow not just as a musician, but also as a person. Strenuous weeks of marching band ended with the glorious friday night lights that I loved. I grew into a strong, musically sound, leader, and I couldn’t have done it without the people and the tradition involved with band. Band also created the opportunity for me to make lifelong friendships. Without band, I wouldn’t have made hundreds of friendships, and to name but a few would be Silas, Ben, Arul, Andrew, Amanda, Kiera and maybe even Grant a little bit. I also found the older brother that I never had in Olivier, a person I look up to and love to waste my days away with. It’s hard to imagine what I would be if not for band, and while I think that i’ll forever reminisce on these four years and I wish I could have them back just one more time, I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Keep being weird and you’ll find yourself a home like I have. ❤️❤️❤️
