Markets have always been the heart and soul of the East End and they are a particularly special feature of everyday life in Walthamstow. From the High Street to Wood Street, E17 is a bargain hunter’s paradise... Famed as being “the longest market in Europe”, Walthamstow High Street is one of the best things about the area. Always alive with the shouts of sellers hawking their wares, there is quite literally nothing you can’t buy on this street. Stall owners have a long history and have recently been captured in all their glory by photographer @lloydramos in his outdoor exhibition along the road. On Sunday’s 3 other markets join in... @walthamstowsundaysocial - a mix of tasty streetfood stalls cooking up cuisine from around the world, as well as jewellery makers and house plants by @alextheplantguy. Plus, they even station picnic benches around so you can gobble in comfort. And @londonfarmers - the best market in terms of actual produce. As well as lovely bread, there’s an organic butchers, fruit & veg + cheese stalls. @milletsfarm sell incredible bunches of flowers for a tenner & St Luke’s offer free hot drinks and chats if you want to meet your neighbours ☕️ @walthamstowstreetantiques joins them every other week. But it's not all about Central. @lloydparkmarket on Saturdays is hugely popular & when combined with a trip to @morrisgallery, one of the best ways to spend a Saturday morning in the area. This market sells both fresh produce & has some great hot food stalls such as @zestkitchen.ldn, @walthamstow_hot_dogs and @mandalastreetfood to name a few! Wood Street is well known for the brilliant @woodstreetindoormarket & @thegeorgianvillage, where you can find all manner of trinkets and antique tresures (and grab some tasty tacos from @homiesondonkeys!).
