I am so thankful to have had Long in my life. I don’t remember when or how we met, but he was always there, always reading everything I wrote, and eager to talk about it. He cared deeply about fashion, real fashion, not the marketing machine it has become, but the art of it, the risk taking, boundary pushing, challenging the status quo that it could be at its best. I will miss him so much—laughing about how “it all starts with the shoulder,” hearing his fantastical stories about Karl Lagerfeld, Tom Ford and many more, seeing his signature Eurosport prep personal style in its LV/Princeton/ Fly Emirates glory, and having wine (me) and beef tartare (him) all over the world. He was a unique person, as easygoing and chatty with a cab driver as with a famous designer, and a comforting, conspiratorial and fun presence in my life. Fashion is worse for having lost his light and curiosity. ❤️ @longnguyennyc
