It’s my 10th year of being single, so what better way to celebrate that - yes CELEBRATE is my choice of word - than by writing an article about it for @single_at_thirty (even though it’s about dating - or lack of - in your 40’s) 🎉 In hindsight, I should have called it NO SEX AND THE CITY 🤣🤣🤣 “Let’s be clear - I’ve never had a problem asking guys out. In fact, I like it. There’s something inherently satisfying about taking matters into your own hands. And let’s be honest, dating in your 40’s is like, are we doing this or what? Because I have shit to do. The problem is that despite the fact that guys may say they’re into it – and trust me, I asked all of my guy friends what they thought – it’s worked well for landing me in the friend zone or the “f*ck it bucket”, but it definitely did not get me onto the dating plate. I think that while men might love the idea of a confident, self assured, successful, assertive and independent woman, I’m not convinced that they actually know what to do when they’re faced with one. Aside from challenging them to an arm wrestle or asking them how much they bench, that is.” I knew all my epic dating fails would make for great stories one day - Taylor Swift, eat your heart out.
