Hannah Lim’s American dream was to attend school to receive an education. As an immigrant, new to the land , being able to read, write and speak the language is a source of empowerment, opportunity and privilege that we often take for granted. I remember early on, my mother would attend adult night school after a full days of work and I would tag along and fall asleep in class with her. Unfortunately her life took a different path so she was never able to full-fill her dream. These bittersweet memories and experiences only cemented my total adoration of my hero ( mom). Yesterday 05-16-23, I was able to have my mom experience my doctoral commencement ceremony on behalf of my alma mater. Thank you @wenda_fong and the entire board of trustees of Cal State University of Long Beach for this honor of a lifetime.
