Re-love the pre-loved 🤍 It is such an honour to be part of the new fashion for all campaign with @barnardos_uk, when I was asked it felt like a very nostalgic full circle moment, When I was younger living in my hometown, I couldn’t and didn’t have access clothing that I felt represented myself and my personality! Not only was this because the fashion retailers was limited to where I was but mainly because I didn’t feel I could find the things that reflected my aesthetic and individual personality in stores selling clothing for ‘boys’. Although now there is a lot more fluidity with clothing in stores, going back to 10 years ago when I was 15 times was already completely different even then! So I’d go through the town centre and raid all the charity shops! In particular my favourite being at the top of my town centre which was barnardos, where they would do a sale of everything for £1.99! For a young boy who felt he had no belonging with very little money trying to explore his identity and individuality, it was having places like this which enabled me to express myself visually and feel a sense of belonging with the way I dressed! If I was that boy being able to now see this image across 600+ stores it would make me feel less ashamed and more confident with assurance I wasn’t alone! Hopefully now other little kids can see me and feel they have a place to shop and feel cool in doing so! 👖👕 Barnardo’s believe that no matter your shape, size, or budget, there is something for everyone at your local Barnardo’s shop.
