Life has been challenging over this last year, to say the very least. After having a meltdown in July, I started therapy and have been going weekly ever since. I was diagnosed with Adjustment Disorder, triggered by everything that happened with Andrew in & after the hospital last October. I have also been living with undiagnosed PTSD caused by childhood trauma. Part of managing my diagnoses and processing what it all means was making the decision to take care of myself. I started working out & I’ve lost 15lbs since July. I also returned to Loyola in August to finish the degree I began in 2003. I took 4 classes online this semester, which was split into two classes in two 8-week sessions. It was a lot of work and I earned a 4.0!! I have a lot to process and work through & some days are harder than others but I know that I’m worthy of the effort so I will keep at it. Sharing this that it may help someone, even in the smallest way & to chip away at the stigma surrounding mental health. There’s strength in vulnerability. There’s power in transparency. 💛
