Winter is not the best time to witness the bright galactic core of the Milky Way from this part of the world as it hides beneath the horizon at night. The winter Milky Way however is visible but thinner than that of the summer. That’s because we’re looking away from the crowded center of the galaxy and toward its thinly settled rim.
