The @thehfm is a busy and beloved institution here in Los Angeles that when pressed, we will say is one of our favorite markets and haunts - one that we have been patronizing for years, where we see familiar faces and something new from the farmers and vendors every week. A public space occupied equally by tourists and locals, home cooks as well as bakers and chefs. In looking for images for this post we found over 500 photos and videos from the market from the past 6 years alone 😳 When we heard the horrible news that the market was cancelled this past Sunday due to an active shooter situation (luckily no one was hurt, everyone was safe) our hearts sunk not just because the growing everyday terror of gun violence has become endemic here in this country but also because we know many of the farmers and vendors depend on the Hollywood Sunday market for their livelihoods from week to week. Farmers today not only feel the effects of climate change and inflation most acutely but now this as well? Our friends @seelaorg have created a recovery fund to assist those farmers and vendors effected by the closure and we will happily donate 10% of our total online sales for this week (7/31-8/6) to support their goal.
