Prints inspired by the Japanese tradition of Gyotaku fish printing.
Annie Sessler lives, fishes and creates art on the North Atlantic sea coast of America. Her home studio is based in Montauk, NY at the southeastern tip of Long Island. There and wherever she travels she creates monotypes of sea life using inks and fabrics inspired by the Japanese tradition of Gyotaku fish printing. Using the bodies of fish as both printing plates and inspiration she makes unique art prints before they are eaten.
Her work has been featured on the CBS Sunday Morning Show, on the Ovation Channel, in the New York Times, on Red Lobster restaurant menus, on OneKingsLane.com, in the East Hampton Star, East Hampton Press, Edible EastEnd/ Brooklyn/Manhattan and in Dan's Papers.
