What started as a one-room laboratory, turned into more than 20 marine research programs. 🐟 Located on City Island in Sarasota, Mote Marine is one of the oldest marine research laboratories in Florida. Originally focused on sharks, the lab opened in 1955 as “Cape Haze Marine Laboratory” with Dr. Eugenie Clark’s foundation of shark research. It was later renamed to honor William R. Mote and his efforts in growing the lab's size and reputation. Mote Aquarium now features hundreds of marine animals and conducts a wide variety of scientific research. Visitors are not only offered windows to view the laboratory, where scientific research happens, they also get to experience the exhibits, both virtual and in-person events, animal encounters, kayaking the Sarasota Bay, boat tours, and more. If you’re a lover of all-things marine life, be sure to check out this incredible spot on your next Florida vacation. 365 days a year, this fun awaits you! 💦 #LoveFL 📍: @motemarinelab
