A few years ago, I wrote in the most chicken scratch writing on a little neon green post it “what the fuck am I trying to say?”. Every time I think about throwing that post it away, I realize that it’s still relevant and I end up leaving it. There are moments of clarity from time to time and the overall process and intention remains but, the ideas and final pieces are constantly shifting. I used to strive to reach a state of consistency in the portfolio but I always end up feeling bored stylistically. The rinse and repeat of boredom, inspiration, growth, consistency, back to boredom is part of the process. The unknown of how long any one of those steps will be and how fleeting they can be is a lesser acknowledged challenge.
