Last year, I really struggled emotionally with my work. I became the cliche tortured artist obsessed with perfectionism and constantly disillusioned. This meant I sat on so much work and didn’t have the confidence to show it, sit with it, hell, even just organise it. There were various reasons for these feelings; the pandemic hit us all in ways we weren’t expecting and created long lasting waves, I didn’t always feel the people I trusted in this industry really had my back and sometimes, I just didn’t know what I was doing or what direction I wanted to go in. But rest is truly a radical act and having had a few solid months away to focus on my own personal development and understand why my brain works the way it does (shout out to all the neurodivergent creatives especially the undiagnosed ones struggling to make sense of themselves whilst navigating this industry) I can clearly see my inner compass again and clearly see that I’m not half bad behind a camera 😎 So here is some work that I shot last May, that I’m super proud of but didn’t have the confidence to show.
