Dr. Mabuse of the silky rump, beloved evil mastermind, scourge of lizards, sweet panther and man-about-town has left his body. We put him down at 5am on September 13th, roughly the same moment that Jean-Luc Godard went out in the same way. Dr. Mabuse – named after Fritz Lang’s archetype-defining evil mastermind – lived an incredible life of nearly 12 years, and with every year he became an even sweeter, more snuggly boy while always maintaining his sinister, talkative, strangely brilliant core. He loved making friends with so many great people in LA, he received so many scritches, and he was my best friend to the end. I hope he haunts this house forever.
