Is Perfection hindering you from having a healthy relationship? If your a millennial like me, you grew up watching the Disney classics where Prince charms comes in and saves the princess and they live happily ever after. Unfortunately these are only early embedded relationship fantasies. And once we have found a connection with someone, we project these fantasies but once the infatuation wears off and you encounter a real person with their own flaws, a Past and their own insecurities. You may start to think "well I thought this was my person but maybe the green is greener somewhere else" It's no wonder why many people find it difficult to find a lifelong partner ... some even choose to stay single for life. Well the perfect partner does not exist! Unless we’re talking about Jesus. Other than that, you won’t find a perfect partner. Even if you were to change partners, they would simply swap a different set of problems.
Are you perfect? Probably not. You are just as imperfect as the “perfect” person you want to attract into your life. It’s not a bad thing. We need to just shift our mindset --->People relate to imperfect people more than perfect people. It’s other people’s imperfection that makes us feel we’re not alone in this world with our struggles and imperfections. It’s better to be with an imperfect person because you relate to that person more. You relate to the person’s failures, mistakes, struggles, painful past and goofy awkwardness. Someone who’s a little weird with a big heart. A relationship is a classroom to teach you more about yourself , your beliefs, your fears... you learn so you can grow. So when you have come across an undeniable connection... AND you both share the same core values, AND you both are willing to evolve AND you are both committed to one another then get in with both feet and do the work it takes to create a healthy relationship. Anyone can fall in love but staying in love is another skill set -- it requires intention, commitment, accountability, grace, communication, humility, forgiveness, and grit.
