Hey PT Family❤️!
Yes its me, Dr.Bae, back from my VERY long hiatus! In the past 6 months i’ve been working on studying and passing my NPTE exam. I wasn’t getting the results I wanted the first couple trials but as they say, 3rd times a charm.
I decided to share my results because after talking to a lot of friends and receiving a lot of support I realized I wasn’t alone in this and to not be ashamed of myself. I would like to say I am my worst critic of myself so I was definitely beating myself up about this but I wanted to express if anyone is currently going throught this or goes through this in the future, I have a some advice for you:
1. DO NOT GIVE UP by any means; I can sympathize and empathize of what failing an important (and expensive) exam does to someones psyche. You start to doubt yourself, your intelligence, and ultimately your will to practice. Dont let that happen, you pushed through didactic and clinicals for 3 years you can make it through this exam. Stay determined.
2. Keep your support system close: I can attest to the fact that my friends, family, former professors and supervisors, classmates etc kept me sane. I started to doubt myself as a person and future PT because failing was very foreign to me to me so i began to doubt myself. My support system/village kept me motivated when i saw myself lacking. I will forever be appreciative and grateful for the people God placed in my life.
3. Contrary to popular belief, it really isn’t the end of the world (😅). Give yourself time to grieve the results but not too much time! This test is just another one of many hurdles we will face in our career! We’ve got to preserve and push through because you will pass!.
I’ve talked your ears off so i will end with this: you can do whatever (and i do mean ANYTHING) you set your mind to. Comparison is the thief of joy so really embrace your journey and your trials and tribulations because it builds to a stronger you!
p.s. stay tuned to get the ins and outs of job searching
xoxo
