The best shot is the imperfect headshot. The acting headshot that actually looks and feels like a real person and not an overly posed individual trying too hard to be a certain “type”.
-
Here are 3 ways to get that realistic imperfect acting headshot that stands out with your unique essence, rather than relying on perfect posing, fancy lighting and costumey clothing.
-
1. Choose clothing that is you. Wear clothes that you feel good in and that just suggests character ideas and doesn’t come off as a costume.
-
2. Use your imagination to come up with personalized moments that a filled with life and intention and communicate them to the camera with your energy and breathe.
-
3. Don’t freeze up. Be aware of yourself, breathe move and shift like a real person would in a conversations. Nothing huge - just small little shifts as you breathe or think about different intentions.
-
Remember, most of the time an actor books a role because they present a character that is flawed, imperfect and interesting. Always be thinking how you can channel your unique individual essence into your headshots - no one else has what you have and that’s powerful. 🤘
