Weights don’t get lighter. And training doesn’t get easier. You just get stronger and better equipped to deal with it.
The same could be said for life.
I first went to the gym at 15 on a mission for muscles (I was bullied at school for being too skinny - my nickname was Alexa Annorexa), only to find that this was a small portion of the gains I would make. The weights room was the first place I felt like I gained control over my life. It was the first place I felt empowered. And it was the first place that i really began to understand the connection between developing physical strength, and the mental fortitude and resilience that came along with it.
When I feel physically strong, I think strong thoughts.
Sometimes we have absolutely no idea of what we’re truly capable of doing until we have to be capable of doing it. Every challenge you seek out, accept and overcome - both in the gym and outside of it - will give you the tools, knowledge and confidence to know that whatever is thrown at you in the future, you will be absolutely fine.
Strength is an attitude, and I can almost guarantee that whatever you go through, you will grow through. You just need to learn to trust the process.
