The Quarantine Tapes began as a way to have a little fun amid a roiling global pandemic. And back in... April? May? Who can remember that far back... I don't believe I'd really thought all the way through to November 3rd. Well, it's been quite a year, and we've had a number of new responsibilities lumped on us in 2020-- mask wearing, hand washing, and vigilant testing (not to mention pro-style home video call lighting)-- but it's important that we not neglect our responsibility to get out and vote. Or, stay in and vote; that'll work, too! Today-- Monday, October 19th-- is the last day to register to vote in California, which you can do online by visiting registertovote.ca.gov, but each state is different, so go to VOTE.GOV to find state and local voting resources. Each musician who took lent their talents to this episode will tell you that casting a ballot is our civic duty, and that COVID-19 needn't stifle our voices! Oh, and to all the young Americans out there, here's your chance to take part in history! I'd like to extend a personal thanks to all the friends, new and old, who took part in this episode, particularly the members of The Community Chorus of Peabody, who recorded their parts remotely over Zoom! What a world we're in! The Quarantine Tapes Vol 3 features: Anne Williamson (piano) Joe Karnes (bass) Mona Tavakoli (percussion) James King (saxophone) MOR - (vocals) LeeAnna - (vocals) Community Chorus of Peabody Al Sgro - (drums, vocals) "Young Americans" - Written by David Bowie; Published by BMG/EMI/Jones Music America
