You know that the AAPI community is near and dear to my heart. Last year, I quit my job at Instagram and dedicated my time to rallying, speaking, organizing, and allocating all of my energy to build a stronger community. After this community activism, I felt depleted and hopeless. Continuity is essential, and I felt that the weight upon my shoulders was too much for me to bear at that time. I was being pulled left and right, but I felt that I needed to take some time to gather myself and ‘fill my cup’ before I could pour it on to others. Over Thanksgiving weekend, I was invited to @AndrewYang and @The092 home, where we unintentionally brainstormed solutions for a more engaging approach to activate the community. We came up with @Goldendao (more info on the website GoldenDAO.xyz) GoldenDAO is a highly engaged, collaborative, and impact-focused community. Our mission is to launch a DAO to collectively advance AAPI solidarity and empowerment through real-world events + gatherings, and web3 infrastructure + initiatives. This strategy allows us to bring more people together, vote on exciting ideas, and fund them through a DAO. We can finally come together as one voice - a fair and trusted voting system to fund community efforts. As it stands, many organizations are private or institutionalized with a lack of transparency. With a DAO infrastructure, my dream can finally come true, and we can come together as a collective to speak up for those who cannot speak up for themselves. We are creating a blueprint for community and impact organizations to follow if and when they decide to acclimate to the blockchain.
