film or digital?
.
I get asked quite a bit from clients or other photographers how do I decide when to shoot on film vs digital. Each is amazing for different reasons and each has limitations. Once you start seeing those, it becomes easy to identify when to them.
If you’ve seen me on a wedding day when I see the photo in my head on film I yell out “Contax!” to my second photographer (sorry!) I know it’s a film photo and it’s going to be a good one lol:) (Contax 645 medium format - it’s a beast to carry around)
Film loves light, the shadows if exposed correctly, retain so much color and detail. The first photo for example- the tree (a gorgeous detail in the design @lainepalmplanning) wasn’t coming through in digital with much color or depth. Exposing the film for the highlights helped bring the design to life in the photo.
Just me geeking out and one small glimpse into my head on a wedding day:)
