Playfully, a rainbow pathway emerges from an open door with characters stepping out and immersing themselves in the idyllic, inviting landscape. Many of us seek refuge and tranquillity in nature: the beautiful outdoors, so the composition is inspired by an amalgamation of terrains: from rolling soft meadows to rocky mountains and open blue skies. A bird leaving its cage is symbolic of the personal experience of navigating life and choosing our own liberating journeys. The colour palette is soft and gentle yet colourful and bright which compliments the story being told within the artwork. I really wanted this illustration to feel like escapism but simultaneously, a big welcoming hug, it made me smile whilst creating it and I hope it can make others smile too.” @harrys @aktcharity
