A lot of hairstylists seem to get offended when someone asks “Oh so you just play with hair all day?” I DON’T! My answer is always “Yeah, basically!☺️” and here’s why: I DO see it as “playing with hair all day” because it’s fun, and I love what I do! That’s NOT to say that being a hairstylist isn’t hard work because it definitely is! Some projects are easier than others, but even the difficult ones are fun too! For instance, if a client comes in for a gnarly color correction, and I have to formulate multiple different colors, I still view it as “playing” because I look at the job in front of me like it’s a puzzle. 🧩 Puzzles can be challenging and even frustrating at times, but they’re still so exciting to me! So the next time someone condescendingly asks you if you “just play with hair all day,” remember how much you love what you do, give them a smile, and say “Yeah I do!
