Announcing the 2022 On Nationalism Symposium, The Fragility and the Possibility of We
June 11, 2022

Poetry Project
How can we reimagine nation, tribe, and community? What practices of listening, sharing, and making might we enact across varying visions of community, decolonization, and self-determination?
Co-organized by The Racial Imaginary Institute, the CUNY Graduate Center, and The Poetry Project, this landmark convening will bring together writers, scholars, and artists exploring the affective and emotional ties of nationalism from a breadth of contexts, for a series of free and open to the public performances and conversations.
We are gathering a global cast of speakers, performers, and participants, including Viet Thanh Nguyen, Urayoán Noel, Layli Long Soldier, Jackie Wang, Tavia Nyong’o, LaTasha N. Diggs, Ann Pellegrini, Dr. Lara Sheehi, and many others, as we consider these questions through a range of critical lenses.
Tickets to this in-person event will be FREE, and will be available at the link in bio at 11am on May 20, 2022. This event will also be live streamed.
In order to support the participating artists -- who will be coming from around the world -- we need your support. Please DONATE to support this event, and to get exclusive TRII swag, books, and donor perks, please visit our GoFundMe page.
