Pripyat is out today on @pan__hq An album dies three times. First time it dies when production is finished, second time when mastering is done, and third time the day it drops out. Today this album accomplishes its three deaths for me and so is born for you all, I carry a corpse and when I put it on your arms it becomes a baby again. When these songs were being made I went to see a kind of witch because I was looking for enlightenment. She said this process would be hard, she said she could see flowers coming out of my mouth as I sang, and that I ought to endure. I endured, I rowed and saw the seven seas and today I win in the middle of the spring. Hopefully you like the album because sharing the music is a big part of the purpose of making it, but the only release feels already like an immense personal victory for me, so today is cathartic, I bloom. But this is me speaking, not the album. If the album spoke, it would probably say it’s just a seek of beauty through sound. My personal story is not the meaning of the album, the album is not sheltered by any concept nor aims to describe anything, it’s just music, and music standing alone feels actually bigger than anything for me.
