to be able to live my truth as a somali trans lesbian is so important to me! I feel like I spent so much of my life trying to hide all the parts of me that made me, me. It wasn’t easy and it felt so scary. I do not come from an accepting family or community. I felt so disconnected from my somalinimo and from the lgbt community. but then I started to meet other LGBTQ somalis online and in real life and that’s when I was like “oh we can do that?!” I don’t have to separate my identities in order to be accepted??? to be able to stand here and do drag in my traditional somali clothing means the world to me. never in my life did I think I would be able to live so trans-ly and freely! I am so proud of myself because you know what I truly do not give a fuck now! it’s been a long journey but I am so grateful and happy to be where I am at. I do this for the black and trans and lesbian niggas. lelelelelelelel!!!!
