I’m not sure where to even begin, I have a lot to say, most of which I probably won’t say here but I need you to understand my frustration and that of an entire nation on the brink of being wiped out.
My family has been in !ran for several generations. Since I was a kid I’ve been hearing horrific stories. Beaten for wearing nail polish, detained and given lashes on the back for having a picnic while unmarried, among others. So this has been going on for some time. Four decades to be exact. Im glad the world is being made aware of the conditions Iranians are forced to live under, and I pray no more people are harmed or killed. Most importantly, that country needs CHANGE, badly.
I can’t help but wonder why it’s so hard for people to acknowledge what’s happening just over the border? I wouldn’t dare post the footage of the torture soldiers and civilians alike have endured, but I need you to imagine the worst possible human rights atrocities (the videos are out there if you need to see with your own eyes) yet we don’t see the world protesting en masse.
The m3dia won’t report on this, because it’s not in their interest to. It’s not in the interest of the countries benefiting from these conflicts. But everyone has access to the internet and to social media. And to only care about what’s trending, or what they tell you to care about, is disappointing beyond measure.
I’m going to stop there. I’ve been in a fog for the last few weeks and, for once, putting my thoughts into words hasn’t been the easiest. Please stand up for both Iran and Armenia.
(Thank you @xoalina for the beautiful graphic of both countries)
