It’s Ehlers Danlos Awareness month! 🤍🖤
I kind of find it ironic that I was also born in the month for EDS awareness.
•Ehlers Danlos syndrome causes so many issues because there are faults in the genes that determine how the body makes collagen, and/or in some subtypes other proteins that work alongside collagen. This leads to the connective tissue becoming weaker.
•Ehlers Danlos syndrome is a lot more the just “joint issues” And I feel not many understand how much it can effect our whole body!
Examples
•(The heart) I have mitral valve prolapse because of my EDS.
•(Skin issues) my skin easy rips open, super fragile, bandages rip off layers of my skin leaving blisters and open wounds, slow healing from anything especially surgery and the scar splits opens and stretches like crazy, easy bruising and more
•(Bladder issues) my bladder is stretched out 2x the size of a normal person’s is and that causes a lot of urinary issues for me.
•(stomach issues) I have a GJ feeding tube because EDS has made my stomach not work properly.
•(Autonomic Nervous System) I have POTS and Dysautonomia that also effects my whole body because of my EDS
Ehlers Danlos effects my everyday life consisting of Sever joint dislocations and subluxations a day to the point I have to use a wheelchair when I’m going far distances, all around pain , fatigue, skin reactions and more.
Also just because your hyper mobile doesn’t always mean you have EDS you could just have HSD which is still a issue but there’s lots more to (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome) then just flexibility and hyper mobility!
This was just a little post of me explaining Some parts of (EDS) @ehlers.danlos
