September is skincare awareness month so let’s talk about the foundation of a good skincare regimen. With so many skincare products available, it can be overwhelming. That’s why I’m breaking it down to the essentials in a simple morning and evening skincare routine that almost anyone can benefit from.
AM Skincare Routine
1️⃣Begin by cleansing your face using a fragrance-free gentle cleanser.
2️⃣Next, apply an antioxidant serum (my favorite is vitamin C) for improving wrinkles, sun damage and collagen production.
3️⃣Use a non-comedogenic moisturizer to hydrate the skin.
4️⃣The most important step- sunscreen! Sunscreen should be worn daily to prevent sun damage. I prefer mineral-based sunscreens, but chemical ones are fine too. Just be consistent!
PM Skincare Routine
1️⃣Cleanse your face to remove oil, bacteria, dead skin cells, sunscreen, makeup, and more.
2️⃣Apply a pea sized amount of retinol to the entire face (avoid sensitive areas like the eyelids and lips). Retinol helps to reduce fine lines, wrinkles and sun damage while improving skin texture and collagen production.
3️⃣Layer on a non-comedogenic moisturizer to lock in hydration overnight and reduce irritation from retinol.
