Claes Oldenburg (1929-2022), one of the key figures of Pop Art in post-war American art, has died, aged 93. The first site of Oldenburg's 11 meter high aluminium coated sculpture, Trowel I, was in the Sonsbeek Park, as part of Sonsbeek 71. Following the exhibition, a remake of Trowel I was acquired by @krollermullermuseum, where it was placed at the entrance in 1976. As per Oldenburg's request, the original silver colour was later turned blue. We wish the Oldenburg family peace, comfort, and lots of strength at this time of sorrow.
