In adulthood, I learned that the story I was taught about Thanksgiving was an absolute myth. (FYI there's a pretty cool article in this fall's @nodepression that includes many songwriters who beautifully articulate this concept. Check it out.) However I AM very into the idea of expressing gratitude. ⁠ ⁠ Today, I'm extremely grateful for this second (ahem more like 600th) chance I've been given in sobriety. It's been my dream to make music my full time job since I was five. I KNOW that if I wasn't sober, my life wouldn't been anywhere near what it is today. ⁠ ⁠ I'm grateful for my friends who bailed me out of jail, my family who loved me in a way that helped me get the help I needed outside of the family, the folks that scooped me up in early sobriety and made sure I got to where I needed to go, and all the beautiful souls I've met along the way. ⁠ ⁠ This life is so far beyond what I was capable of imagining.
