The Ordinary launched a new haircare line. In this post I will give you my take on these products.
Sulphate 4% cleanser:
What I absolutely love about the shampoo is the message behind it. A shampoo needs a cleansing agent. Sulfates are one of the most used and effective cleansing agents. Unfortunately, they have (unfairly) been put into a bad light. They are not hazardous to ones health! If you have sensitive skin (with conditions like rosacea or eczema) you might want to avoid them. However, even with those conditions they can be used because other ingredients in the shampoo can make the formula more gentle.
But, this is just a very standard shampoo.
The formula doesn’t contain conditioning agents. That’s a choice, but the thing is: clean hair doesn’t feel soft and lacks a protective layer. That’s why most shampoos contain conditioning agents.
Does this shampoo clean your hair? Absolutely! Your hair might feel dry/brittle afterwards though and you must really use a conditioner after this shampoo.
Behentrimonium Chloride 2% Conditioner:
Almost any conditioner contains behentromium chloride and it’s not about that single ingredient. When designing a conditioner it’s about the ratio of specific ingredients. In this formula it’s about the interaction between behentromium chloride and cetearyl alcohol. This combination is standard and also very much used in other basic conditioners. The L’Oréal wonder water is e.g. truly different from other conditioners because the formula contains an innovative ratio of specific ingredients.
This conditioner might work for you, but don’t expect a miracle to happen.
Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA for Scalp:
The condition of the scalp can influence the quality of the hair. However, scalp care treatments are highly complicated. It really much depends on the individual state of the scalp if a specific treatment can be effective. Besides, there are currently not many proven effective treatments. You can always use this product (it will never harm) but I question if they really make a difference.
Love the pro sulfate trend but the products themselves are very basic
