Fun story... I met this gorgeous creature, legendary dancer/actress PAULA KELLY, back in the early 90s at Amagi Japanese Restaurant in the Gower Gulch strip mall across the street from Sunset Gower Studios where I used to work. It was karaoke night and she was enjoying a cocktail and I immediately recognized her, smiled and said hello. She sipped her drink, looked right into my soul and said, "Let me guess... You're Gay and you recognize me from Sweet Charity or The Golden Girls" with a strange combination of both appreciation and weariness in her voice. I said "BOTH!" and, fighting the urge to ignore her body language and continue to invade her space, I just said "It was so nice to meet you" and respectfully walked away. 💜
