I closed out my final set at ecstatic dance ⁣⁣⁣⁣ with our Iranian freedom anthem “Baraye” (translation: “because of”) by @shervinine remixed by @dannyasadi⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ “because of dancing in the streets,” the song begins. In Iran, dancing in public is banned.⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ Shervin was arrested shortly after the song was released and went viral. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ having the freedom to dance, create art and express yourself freely is the basic birthright my people are fighting for. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ following his song, I closed out our dance in meditation with a new Iranian ambient track I’ll be releasing in the coming weeks (blessed live by @shaktimayumi) ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ I do this for the women in my motherland who cannot. for the brave women risking their lives for freedom. my heart is with you. my dance, my art, my expression is for you🌹 ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ big love to the @ecstaticdancela community for all the medicine and magic we conjured this year. @robin_parrish_ & @atasiea you two are legends. till we dance again!❤️‍🔥👁❤️‍🔥
