I first discovered Slaves to Fashion in college and used it as the foundational text for my concentration, so needless to say, I’ve been prepared for this exhibition for years! Which is probably also why, when I sat down to write about it, I quickly realized I’d have to break my coverage into three parts. Over on Consider Yourself Cultured is part one of my exploration of Superfine. Also, side note: I brought the book I used in college—full of my notes and annotations—to the preview yesterday with the slight hope of getting Monica to sign it, and to my delight, one of the last people I saw was her.
