šŸ¦ŖšŸ¾ Sparkling by the glass, but make it hybrid pét-nat! #ostudioBTG new this week: creamy, tropicana-sunset brianna from Erin Rasmussen of @americanwineproject. šŸžļø Erin is in Wisconsin’s Driftless Area, the only part of the Upper Midwest not to be scraped flat by glaciers and consequently a fascinating, wrinkly topographical landscape carved out by the Mississippi: twisting limestone gorges, forested ridges, cider orchards—and native riparia vines growing *everywhere*. (Grapevines are basically weeds.) 🌱 Brianna is one of the hybrids obtained by legendary Osceola grape breeder Elmer Swenson (he didn't even drink—just really liked plants, I guess). Sometimes considered a bit of a workhorse, early ripening and used for its acidity, but—you already know what I'm going to say, sing it with meā€”šŸŽ¶ when farmed attentively and considerately vinified, it's capable of so much m o r e šŸŽ¶. šŸ§‘ā€šŸŒ¾ I met Erin at Wild World last year and am so excited to be able to support the project now that her wines are on this coast—you may have seen me pouring them in Maine and repping them via the Children’s Atlas last May. (Thanks @jahdemarley.drinks for getting them to this market! šŸ’š) Hybrid ferments are part of the future for wine facing a destabilized climate and rooting itself in local folkways. Erin’s work helping to build this future in her corner of the world—and crafting delicious beverages in the bargain—is worth celebrating. #ostudioBTG @abvferments @ostudioatnight
