Will never stop sharing my pocket door restoration because this is the project that started it all for me- nearly 6 years ago now! I found my love for old homes and unknowingly kickstarted my career through tearing down the silly little “walls” in my childhood apartment. What’s funny now is that when I share this project people accuse me of faking it for views-but the real ones know! Growing up my mom always told me “there are probably pocket doors back there!” (the people who lived here before us had put walls up to create more division between rooms) so when my parents retired & left the city the first thing I had to do was check to see if the pocket doors were indeed there. And thankfully, they were! Most apartments in my building had them completely removed- whyyyyy?! Once I saw those beautiful doors & how much they instantly changed the entire vibe I fell in love with the concept of restoring the rest of the apartment back to its original condition.
