Keyboard gallery exhibit #3. The Oberheim OBX-a, circa 1981. This smooth-as-whipped-butter polyphonic behemoth was used on a lot of pop songs in the 1980’s. It can also get pretty gnarly but always in the catchy slick way that made that era what it was. I particularly love the brass-y sounds. There is so much life in this thing compared to the clinically perfect synth sounds we hear today. They are still trying to clone this thing.
